Product DescriptionVirgin/EMI are very pleased to announce the release of ?Methods Of Dance?, a compilation of era-defining underground club tracks which marked the point at which post punk collided with the dancefloor in the early 80s. This 1CD album takes the best tracks from two influential vinyl albums ?Methods Of Dance? (1981) and ?Methods Of Dance Vol 2? (1982) which originally boasted three exclusive remixes from the Human League, Rip Rig & Panic (featuring a young Neneh Cherry) and Culture Club which are all featured here. Many of these tracks chart the very early days (and indeed songs) of bands which went onto be household names. The album kicks off with B.E.F?s instrumental ?Groove Thang? which of course gave birth to Heaven 17?s ?We Don?t Need This (Fascist Groove Thang)? once Glenn Gregory?s vocals were added. BEF also feature again with a cover of Bowie?s ?The Secret Life Of Arabia? showcasing the wonderful talents of Billy Mackenzie on vocals. The Human League offer an exclusive ?Special Edit? of ?Do Or Die Dub?, but perhaps more intriguing is side project The Men and the disco-funk infused ?I Don?t Depend On You?, which incredibly came between ?The Dignity Of Labour? and ?Empire State Human?! Rumour has it that this unlikely single was released as a result of pressure from Virgin to write something which included conventional instruments? And in case you were wondering, Japan?s ?Methods Of Dance? appeared originally as a bonus track on the cassette version of ?Methods Of Dance Vol 1. As this new compilation has stuck rigidly to pulling the best options from the original vinyl, Japan is instead represented here by ?The Art Of Parties?. |
