Stoney Creek is made by the excellent Victorian Alps Winery, whose top wines received a Five-Star rating in James Halliday's Aussie Wine Guide 2008. The team, including innovative winemaker Andrew Vesey, wanted to make a red that was as fruity as possible, so they applied the techniques used by Beaujolais' best to make their wines soft, juicy and velvet smooth ... think supple Pinot Noir, Cru Beaujolais and you'll be along the right lines - but a touch of Shiraz gives spicy body.
