A deliciously smooth, rich Merlot named after the classic 19th century Chateau set in the idyllic backdrop of Languedoc vineyards. Here old vines are grown on ancient terraces of quartz stone which slope down to the Thongue river. This distinctive 'terroir' helps create wines that are remarkably concentrated and powerful, yet incredibly well balanced. Add to the expertise of winemaker Jean-Paul Barral, who gained experience in both Bordeaux and the Cotes du Rhone, and you get a genuinely exciting, flavour-packed wine! Plums and damson on the nose with the rich, concentrated fruit flavours typical of wines from this region. A wonderful accompaniment to traditional Cassoulet or chicken casserole.
