Product Description"Chile ... no other country in the world delivers so much red wine flavour for the price" Oz Clarke's Wine Buying Guide. Chile is the closest thing to Eden for vine and with the 3rd generation Aresti Estate's expertly managed vineyards and skilful winemaking, the results are quite spectacular. We are particularly impressed by the dazzling intensity and smoothness of this oak-aged reserve 2005. Carmenere is an old Bordeaux variety long thought extinct until it was shown to be thriving in the vineyards of Chile, where it had been brought over in the 19th century. It's characteristically dark and succulent with wild brambly fruit and complements the noble blackcurrant and pepper profile of Syrah very well. Winemaker Jon Ander Usabiaga has crafted a rich, velvety red with layers of plumy, blackberry flavours with almost dark chocolate intensity, hints of spicy oak and fresh herbs. Serve this with garlic and rosemary-encrusted roast lamb ... ratatouille and lamb cutlets or a spicy tagine. |
