Its great strength is that it is specifically designed for the smaller APS-size sensor found on the Sony models whilst covering the equivalent of 24mm focal length at the wideangle end of its zoom range. At its telephoto end, the equivalent on a 35mm film camera would be 120mm. Great versatility. Carl Zeiss have used their renowned T* anti flare coating to keep contrast nice and crisp too.
